This project aim to show/ confront the diversity and individuality of identity through the simple shared experience of having a haircut. It is more than styling hair. We will spend quality time with each person who will be in my chair. We will listen snapshots of their lives and experiences. We will hear and see them evolving in their narrations during the haircut, where the world seems to go faster and faster and disconnected from each other.

Sabrina Lefebvre for Haircultproject in Calais

I am Sabrina Lefebvre, founder of the HairCult Project and a freelancer hairstylist based in London.
For the last past 17 years, I have been cutting and styling hair in many places in the world in the search of humanity. From the couture show during fashion week to the extremes of the refugees camps of Calais, to the southern point of this earth to the top floor of the world trade towers in New York, i style hair.
I am in collaboration for the writing with Gaëlle Caradec, journalist based in Paris.
And talented photographer that I meet on the way.

"It is in faces, looks and words that i want to find the powerful way of reaching people beauty.
Each encounter will bring us a step closer. Each story will be unique.
By exploring the experience of the other, I am in a search of understanding.
Do we all have the same thirst of Love, Freedom and Recognition?
In a world torn between tradition and modernity, do our fundamental remain the same?
Deep down, what does it mean to be human today and how do we perceive beauty?
Do we in fact, share more value than we might have imagined?

I want to pose all this questions and discuss humanity the time of a meeting of a hairdresser moment."
